Community
Response
Team
Pursuant to the goals and purpose of For The Struggle, Inc., the Community Response Team, also known as CRT, is a critical component and focus area of the organization. The Community Response Team responds to any issues involving racial and/or social injustice in the community. The response to such issues may be in the form of education, outreach, community engagement, policy, and/or legal action. The CRT hosts the Elder Response Initiative, which focuses on combatting displacement associated with rapid growth and gentrification in Charlotte. And, see below for our response to the need for a Juneteenth Celebration on Charlotte's Beatties Ford Road Corridor!

The FTS Mural at West Charlotte High School
Our mural at West Charlotte High School has been completed! Thank you to local artist, Marcus Kiser for your dedication and artistry to help us get this done.
This mural is very special to us because the quotes come from people who inspired FTS and its programs.
The quote, “we exist not to escape life but for life not to escape us,” is from Cherisse Eatmon, whom our Eatmon Project is named in honor and memory of.
The quote, “you are not the sum of your worst mistake,” is from Umar Muhammad, whom our SaluteU project is named in honor and memory of.
The quote “you got this,” is from Lyn “Big Lyn” Weathersbee, whom our Senior Feeding kitchen and program is in honor and memory of.
Finally, the quote “nothing good comes easy,” comes from our Executive Director, as the saying helped her push through the difficult times with getting us where we are today.
