Alesha S. Brown
Alesha Brown is the Founder and Executive Director of For The Struggle, Inc (“FTS”). Alesha has worked with and for various organizations and has witnessed how many organizations benefit from the struggle without truly addressing issues identified by community members. She founded FTS in May 2019 with the goal of creating an organization that truly focuses on addressing community needs from within by partnering with members and leaders of impacted communities.

Alesha is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 2009 as a Political Science major and Business minor and subsequently graduated from New York Law School in 2012. Aside from being the Executive Director of FTS, Alesha is an attorney practicing civil rights and civil litigation law at her newly founded law firm, Justice in Action Law Center located in Charlotte, North Carolina. She provides zealous advocacy for her clients and believes in fighting for justice. Prior to relocating to Charlotte, Alesha practiced civil litigation at a firm in New York City and subsequently served as Counsel to the New York City Council’s Committees on Civil Rights and Contracts.

During her time as Committee Counsel, Alesha played an intricate role in drafting, passing, and implementing anti-discrimination legislation, including, but not limited to, New York City’s Ban the Box Law, Anti-Credit Discrimination Law, Anti-Discrimination Against Victims of Domestic Violence Law, and the Anti-Caregiver Discrimination Law. Alesha also litigated voting rights cases at the Southern Coalition for Social Justice in Durham, North Carolina. Alesha has also served as a Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Commissioner for Central Region 1.
